About The Program:
Pawesome’s Veterinary Medicine & Training Program is a unforgettable twelve day experience in companion animal welfare and shelter medicine. Our program is located on the pacific north coast of Ecuador in a tiny surfing village and provides training specifically designed for veterinary, pre-veterinary and nurse/technician students who wish to expand their clinical as well as practical veterinary skills.

Each student will have ample opportunity to participate in all aspects of shelter medicine. Tasks will include medical and surgical procedures, pre and post-operative care, animal handling and health exams. You will partake in a multi-dimensional cultural and educational experience with an emphasis on instruction via the hands on approach side by side our veterinarians, gain valuable clinical hours, develop a broader understanding of international veterinary medicine and share in many planned group and cultural activities.

For this program we partner with a local shelter to provide invaluable no cost treatments and care to the village dogs and cats, and the broader communities living in the area. All surgeries are performed on community animals that require sterilization. Members of the local community own most of the patients, but homeless cats and dogs are also considered for sterilization. Patient care and patient needs are always our top priority.
